The words dental insurance on a screen

Do you have Delta Dental coverage? We hope you take full advantage of your plan! Your insurance is there to help you prevent oral health problems before they start — without taking a huge chunk out of your wallet. It also provides a bit of a financial safety net in case you ever need some significant work done on your smile. But how can you make sure you’re getting the most out of your dental benefits? As your Delta Dental dentist in Woodstock, we’re here to help you.

Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees

Delta Dental offers three types of plans:

  • Their PPO plans allow you to visit any licensed dentist. If you visit an in-network dentist, you may find that your preventive care is covered at 100 percent. Fees tend to be higher at out of network dentists.
  • Their Delta Dental Premier plans feature a large network of dentists from which you can choose. You may also visit out of network dentists, but again, fees tend to be higher at such oral healthcare providers.
  • With the DeltaCare USA plans, you must visit an in-network dentist if you want to use your coverage. Patients’ out of pocket costs tend to be quite low at DeltaCare dentists.

Regardless of which type of plan you have, you should be sure to understand how your benefits apply to various treatments. For example, a filling is usually considered “minor restorative work” and may be covered at up to 80 percent when you visit an in-network dentist. Major restorative work may only be covered at 50 percent or so.

Delta plans may also come with a yearly maximum, which is the most that the insurance company will pay out for treatment within a given year. As your Delta Dental dentist near Towne Lake, we will help you get the most out of your annual maximum. For example, we may suggest that you schedule treatment across two calendar years in order to double the amount of coverage that you have available to you.
